Hello! My name is Ed Blankenship and I am a PhD student. I speak multiple languages at varying levels and have many years of teaching experience.
I have 8 years experience of teaching Spanish, my BA in French and Arabic, MA in Islamic History, and am currently working on my PhD in Iranian Philology. I work with the modern languages that I have listed here, as well as a number of dead Iranian languages (Old Persian, Middle Persian, Avestan, Sogdian, Bactrian, etc).
I feel comfortable teaching all levels of Spanish, French, Arabic, and Persian (all three dialects), as well as lower levels of other languages.
Pedagogically I believe in finding the balance between understanding grammar (since it is crucial to communication) and building solid (oral) communication skills. I also have an interest in dialects, and thus am comfortable teaching Levantine Arabic as well as Afghan and Tajik Persian. If you're interested in improving specific skills (reading, writing, grammar, etc) I'm willing to work on lessons specifically targeting these skills.
Message me if you're interested and let's try out a lesson!
